Job Description for Loan Clerk

Summary

Coordinate with the Operations Manager in implementing and carrying out bank policies and procedures with respect to the overall operations of the bank. Responsible for inputting new loan data into the computer for each loan department as needed. Obtain credit information on loan applications. Perform various duties to assist in processing and servicing of loan documents in all areas, as applicable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Answer switchboard, as well as voicemails and emails for general calls and department calls; assist customers as much as possible before referring elsewhere. This includes, but not limited to, phone payments, transfers, ACH & wire transfer requests.
  • Process mail.
  • Review morning reports on a daily basis, corrections to be made as necessary.
  • Process wire transfer requests/review requests.
  • Preparation of a variety of loan documents in regard to new, renewing, modifying, and paid-off loans.
  • Upload loans/Perform Reviews on inputs and indexed documents.
  • Process escrow payments; winter/summer taxes, insurance, MGIC, Unitas, etc. as applicable.
  • Check paid/unpaid taxes on all tax ID’s
  • Update UCC listing and filing continuations when needed; file UCC's with state and county.
  • Order appraisals, surveys, title work, UCC searches, Flood certificates, certificate of good standing, etc.
  • Maintain pending loan files by tracking documents as they are returned.
  • Update/Maintain loan files with current & cancelled insurance policies & binders; make necessary calls to customers, if needed; mail delinquent insurance notices; place blanket Insurances/send notices, if applicable.
  • Process risk ratings.
  • Reconcile flood invoices with flood certificate general ledger account.
  • Review and report HMDA reporting information.
  • Process incoming & paid Northpointe loans.
  • Process and review Escrow Analysis.
  • Process payoff letter requests and external requests; including discharges/terminations, recording of discharges, mailing paid off notes and processing overage refunds, if applicable.
  • Process Final Servicing Released documents to new servicer.
  • Process Commitment Letters.
  • Scan and index all related loan documents for electronic storage.
  • Assist loan officers in ensuring they have documents necessary for each loan.
  • Comply with all bank policies, regulations, and laws applicable to carrying out duties and responsibilities.
  • Other job duties as assigned

Desired Education, Training, and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Technical Skills Needed

  • Knowledge and experience with operating a computer, calculator, and other general office equipment.
  • Excellent social and communication skills:
    • Use professional and clear verbal communication skills.
    • High quality writing skills, using accurate word usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation in all written correspondence.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
    • Use professional phone etiquette, including tone and volume of voice.

Mental Effort Needed

  • Ability to multi-task, work in a fast paced, changing environment and maintain a commitment to accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ability to follow policies, procedures and written instructions, as well as verbal instructions or directions from his/her supervisor.
